Dear Mike,
If you have any advice about my situation, I'd be very grateful. I've read all of the posts on this forum about my model of boiler but can't find an answer to my problem.
I've had a Powermax 135 for 5 years (since I bought my flat) but it was installed 15 years ago. I haven't had any problems until now but, suddenly, the hot water has stopped working. It won't warm up at all.
I run a timer system. When it reaches the relevant time, the fan turns on. However, the green 'burner' light does not turn on as it normally would. After a few seconds of the fan being on, the green Pektron 'timed ignition sequence unit' makes a rapid clicking noise for a few seconds. Then, the clicking stops but the fan remains on.
The man I normally use for plumbing, electrics, odd jobs, etc came around to my flat to deal with some other problems but I asked him to look at my boiler quickly in case there was an obvious problem. He said that he wasn't used to this particular boiler and I should speak to someone who was, but he suspected that the problem was with the timed ignition sequence unit.
Are you able to offer any advice? I desperately need the boiler situation to be resolved soon as someone is moving into my spare room in a matter of days. I'd like to avoid replacing the boiler as I haven't the money at the moment, given the difficulties that replacement involves when getting rid of a Powermax. Also, there have been no other problems with the boiler since I bought the flat, so I was hoping a repair might work for me.
Thanks for reading this and for providing such a helpful website.
