Hi, I'm a newbie and I mistakenly got my Potterton Powermax HE 115 at too high a pressure - 1.9 bar resting pressure with system cold (it should rest at 1.5 bar). Question: how can I reduce the pressure. I kinda remember an engineer a few years ago mention to me that there is a release valve when you take the cover off but I can't remember exactly where it is. I've been googling to no avail but I have come across a picture of the front of my boiler and am wondering is it the red cap pictured within the yellow box below? If so, how do I release the pressure? Maybe by pressing the cap in or is it by turning the cap (if so would it be counterclockwise?). Sorry for the simple questions but I don't want to break anything or touch the wrong part. Thanks in advance. Under pressure, Jeff

pressure relief valve is the one you mentioned and you turn it to release pressure, itll make a noise like abs brakes when working but not a good idea to use this valve to manually release pressure as you may get some grit in seal and it will in effect leave valve in the open position and continually empty boiler which means buying and fitting new valve which isnt a very costly job but one you could do without. alternatively, and probably your best bet, is to leave as is, 1.9 resting pressure wont do any harm and if there is a problem it will "blow out" automatically from valve which you are referring to. pressure will probably decrease over time as you probably filled it too high in the first place because of low system pressure due to having a small leak somewhere in system

ps. if you still want to release pressure simply bleed any radiator and itll do the same job, just remember to have cup/bowl ready to catch water
