Good Morning all, Got a 155x, and suddenly noticed the other day the fan, (I'm assuming it's the fan and not a pump, it's on the top right, and has a spinning black round motor that you can see outside the silver casing); has started making a louder noise that I can hear around the house. Never heard it this loud before; although the heating / hot water is still working fine. Is this a sign that it will go soon, or you think I could use some fan grease (saw something on ebay called regin fan assembley oil) to keep it going longer? I've got boiler insurance with Baxi, but I am guessing they wouldn't bother as it's not technically broken down (yet); so I haven't called them. Any advice much appreciated, thank you

I have had one of these fans fail as you describe i.e. very noisy. I have also had them fail, i.e. stop spinning.
Should be swapped by engineer as they are part of the gas combustion unit.
Don't see why your insurance wouldn't cover it. Boiler should be near silent if it is in a cupboard.

I can only attribute it to the extreme cold weather we had a few weeks back, beast from the east, and once it warmed up, the noise is no longer happening. Would it be possible that the cold somehow travelled down the flue and affected the fan in some way? long shot i know, but only way I can explain it.... im just glad the noise is gone, service will be booked for May, so hopefully all well till then.

Mine that went noisy stayed noisy. It was in a let property. Tenant didn't complain. I wondered what was going on when I visited !! Just bearings I think. Cold could be an issue. If it's quiet now then all well and good.
