Hi,
I am just a homeowner (with a father in law who's pretty competent at DIY electrics, plumbing etc). Last night the CH stopped working, but we still have hot water. We have bled all rads apart from the towel rad in the bathroom which has no air or water coming out.
What i think is the pump was making a noise (not like i ever remember) when turned on, but sounded like it was struggling to do anything. So gave it a TAP with a hammer as suggest after searching on google for problems, but doesnt seem to make a difference. It seems to have 3 speeds?? on the pump which you can hear a slight change in RPM when adjusted so sounds like it is working?
Rads still not heating up. There is water in the tank in the loft.
Any ideas?? PLEASE!!!!!!!!

One generally finds there's usually no water in the pump when changing the speed setting make no or little difference to the note of the pump. What does the pressure gauge on the front say?
