My Powermax (13 years old with a long history of faults, repairs and technicians who have either never seen one or refuse to touch it) has stopped again! I noticed the water getting cold last night, then this morning the heating wasn't on. An inspection revealed no lights at all on the boiler, and the main fuse tripped. When the circuit breaker was 'untripped' we still had no power to the front panel (no lights). I presume there has been some catastrophic failure of a vital part, but this is not the same as previous faults (pump failures, regulator valve issues, programmers etc).
Do you have any suggestions before I call an engineer on Bank Holiday Monday, given that the most usual response is puzzlement and trial & error.
Thanks
Jill

Jill,
Tricky. The Powermax is not noted for tripping circuit breakers. I don't think it has any fuses inside either, but I could be wrong. Sounds like a circuit board failure to me. Pumps are the usual cause of tripping but if it's the pump, resetting simply results in it re-tripping. Have you checked the fuse in the wall switch?
But I imagine you've had it fixed by now....
