After having two taps running with hot water the boiler started going into lockout After switching on and off goes back in lockout, however the central heating pump is working and the water actually does come out hot both from taps and in the radiators until it locks out again Doing this over and over does get the result but it is a pain I have already replaced the programmer and the central heating pump some months ago but it looked like the technician did not really know the boiler and don't want to continue with people guessing at my expense Can it be the solenoid on the gas valve? I know that the blender valve is faulty as water comes very hot but it has been like that for the last 7 years so I am not worried I have just sold the property and completing in one week I would like not to leave the new owner with a boiler not working!

Hard to say what this might be at a distance, but I think it needs diagnosing properly by someone who understands the boiler. Could be any number of things, but my guess would be the level switch inside the air collection chamber.
Follow the leads and test for continuity in the switch immediately it locks out. There should be continuity. If open circuit, replace the switch. If closed circuit, its something else....
