I've got boiler insurance with baxi, which I thought would cover me for fixing it when it stopped working.
I recently had the pressure dropping, and a leak. The engineer came out today and said that he can fix the leak but he can't check the combustion level as he can't remove the test point screw.
He said that if the screw broke, then the boiler would then be unfixable. Therefore he is not prepared to try and take it out with force.
He has now condemned the boiler and told me not to turn it back on.
Can anything be done if this screw is broken?
thanks in advance guys.

What???!!! The test point screw on a 155x is bombproof!
Get the correct size screwdriver engaged in it (Pozidriv PZ3 I think) and it WILL come out. Or at least I've never failed to remove one in my career fixing these so far.
If the screw head has been mangled by using the wrong sized screwdriver in it, a ring spanner would be equally as good as it has a hexagon head.
Same comments apply to the 155 and the 155x.

Thanks for your reply Mike. Its a pitty your not local to me, as it sounds like you know your stuff!
So if the engineer couldnt take off the screw, is he right to say the boiler is unusable ? Is it a rule from GasSafe that you have to make this Combustion reading ?
