Have just been to a job where a powermax 155x has the central heating not working but the hot water seems to be fine. The occupants hae been in the property for a week and don`t seem to have any problems with the hot water. I have tried un- seizing the pump with no success. I have checked for power at the pump and there is none there, there is also no power feeding the pump terminals. The programmer seems to be fine and all in working order, the neon light is certainly on but I can`t remeber seeing the other two lights illuminated. Its a sealed system and the pressure is fine. The system has not been used at all for three months prior to them moving in, I have been informed that the electrics to the property was`nt isolated during this time. Obviously I don`t want to shell out on a pump if I don`t need to. Interestingly enough an engineer had signed a gas safety certificate for the boiler and around a week later they realise the problem. I will definately be informing the customer of the new flue reg`s that came into action at the beginning of the year, as was`nt aware of these before visiting the site. Any help is much appreciated.

In this particular instance is the pump the first port of call anyway? Replacing the pump that is.

Connect the pump directly to power, that's the best way to eliminate it as suspect I would say.
