Hi Mike,
Just moved into a house with a 155, not overjoyed!
This one seems to occasionally exhibit a rather loud banging sound, reminds me of a window or door slamming, and can be heard inside the house as well as outside (I was scrapping the car and it almost sounded like a gunshot!)
It occurs when the heating has been off and usually when it is replenishing the thermal store (I think?), as this would explain the sound at 2 o'clock in the morning. I have done some work in the airing cupboard as a couple of the pipes were not fixed and were moving around when the heating was on, this was a single 22mm pipe that goes from the centre back of the boiler up in the expansion(?) tank. Sorry as you can tell I know next to nothing about boilers. So I used clips to hold the pipes to stop them moving and also bought some insulation tubing so that the pipes will stop banging against each other, but this occasional loud bang seems to have me stumped! As it happens occasionally, you can imagine it is hard to observe.
Have you heard or seen something similar with these boilers?
Thanks, Gavin
