Hi,
We have a powermax 185 in our flat and looking to replace it. Can anyone recommend a gas boiler with equivalent capacity / capability to be a like for like or improvement on the current boiler.
Thanks

I have no personal experience of or vested interest in Viessmann boilers, but I wondered if Mike has any comments on this model (or anything else from their range)?

I have powermax 185 too (works OK for now) and I was wondering if I could replace it with some new boiler on expense of Green Deal te government launched some time ago. Also, on related topic, the top of my boiler is very hot (can barely hold my hand on it), should I worry or is it normal? Please advise! Thanks! :-)

The little V100 used to be a bundle of trouble but the bigger Veissmanns are better. Spares are never 'over the counter' though, always have to be ordered and waited for which is not the case if you get a Vaillant.
Alex, the top always gets hot!

Hi Mike,
We've been recommended the following two options 1/ Combi boiler - Valliant or Wocester Bosch 2/ System boiler & thermal store - Valliant & Gledhill
Which approach would you recommend and suggest models ?
Thanks

I'd avoid a combi if I were you. The hot water performance will be disappointing after a Powermax.
I'd avoid a Gledhill too, they are loads of trouble! Any thermal store with a stainless steel tanks would be far better. Alternatively I'd suggest a system boiler and a MEGAflo mains pressure hot water cylinder.
