Hi All,
I had a programmer fail after a power cut (dim lights on programmer and generally not working) I got another one which wasnt new but connected it up and it seemed to work no problem for the first hour then the red lockout light came on and fan continues to run. If you flick the switch to off and then back on a few minutes later it fires up again and runs for about 20 minutes before the same happens.
I am wondering could a faulty programmer cause this type of fault as the boiler has been working fine. An electrician bypassed the old faulty programmer to ensure we had heating controlled via the thermostat.
Just before you get the lockout light you do hear a bit of banging i am sure this has something to do with it. I have checked the pump is still running and it does seem to be.
Any help much appreciated.
thanks Phil

Phil,
Apologies for my delay in replying. Must set this board to email me when someone posts...
Hard to comment, other than the programmer will have no bearing on the locking out. It's separate fault, and not one I've ever encountered with a 185. I'm inclined to suggest checking the ignition electrode for distortion. These carry out the flame detection function too, so even if it lights the boiler, it could be on the cusp of failing to flame-detect correctly. Ignition electrodes are common fail points on a 185.
